Sandpiper in butternut 9" x 4"

Butternut is often called White Walnut, because it is closely related to Black Walnut. The wood of Butternut is considerably lighter-colored than Black Walnut, as well as being very soft and lightweight.

Sandpipers are part of a large family of shorebirds, or waders. They can be found along the shores of lakes, rivers, and streams as well as along ocean beaches.

Through his teaching and art, wood sculptor Wayne Robbins creatively seeks to share his passion for the sea and to inspire faithful stewardship of the Earth’s fragile ecosystem.
